FCR Original unveils its BMW R12 NineT: an exceptional machine for a new era

At FCR Original, every bike is a story. But some mark a turning point in our trajectory. The BMW R12 is one of them. This model, just arrived at BMW Motorrad, immediately appealed to us by its structure, its potential, and the DNA it embodies. A direct descendant of the R NineT, the R12 NineT combines classicism with contemporary technology. An ideal playground for ambitious preparation.
Our aim: to unleash the bike’s aesthetic, technical and emotional potential.
The project: lighten, purify, assert
When the R12 NineT arrived at the workshop, our intention was clear: remove the superfluous, lighten the structure, enhance the mechanics. The base is healthy, powerful and well-balanced… but it just needs to breathe. So we decided to strip it down intelligently, freeing up the intake with visible K&N air filters, removing the airbox and hiding the electronics under the seat.
The design of the custom-made rear buckle has radically transformed the line. This imposing, completely redesigned piece reorganized the entire rear end, while preserving the homogeneity of the frame. We created an integrated lighting bracket, a new rear shell, and reworked the exhaust line for a coherent, high-performance design.
Every gesture was guided by one idea: to make the R12 NineT breathe. And give it a sleek, agile, compact look.
Preparation as a declaration of intent
The design of the R12 NineT FCR Original is modern but not ostentatious. The bespoke paintwork combines metallic highlights with visual depth. Precision work was carried out on texture, hues and light for a result that is both sober and assertive. The fork pockets were polished, the frame was completely stripped and treated, and the crankcases reworked. Every detail is the fruit of a carefully considered choice.
Forged aluminum rims, combined with Michelin semi-slick tires, accentuate the sporty look. The new handlebars, positioned lower down, transform the cockpit and breathe new dynamism into the ride.
The bike retains all its original technology, but it’s now concealed, controlled and stylized. A kind of return to the essence of the machine, like a tribute to the fundamental codes of neo-retro preparation.
A creation born of passion… and luck
When we saw the first curves of the BMW R12, it just clicked. An inspiring model, with an engine full of character, a modern chassis, and a heritage to respect. The desire was soon born to create our own version, faithful to our DNA, but rethought from top to bottom. It wasn’t a gratuitous styling exercise, but a desire to make the machine speak for itself.
We’ve reworked the rear loop, eliminated the airbox, rethought the riding position, and integrated the electronics under the seat to improve readability. And above all, we’ve developed new FCR Accessoires accessories to accompany this vision: an ultra-light, visually sharper titanium silencer, which delivers a huskier, more mechanical sound, but one that’s still under control; an aluminum engine cover designed to protect while reinforcing the muscular visual appearance of the lower section.
This creation is the fruit of a technical but also emotional approach: we left nothing to chance, combining intuition, know-how and a sense of detail.
Today, it perfectly embodies our desire to push back the boundaries with style and consistency.
A long-term vision
The R12 NineT is much more than an isolated preparation. It symbolizes our vision for the coming years at FCR Original: to offer motorcycles with assertive style, built with passion, and designed as machines ready to live, not to be frozen.
That’s why we’ve already got several variations in development: an Urban version, an Off-road version, and an upcoming Classic Heritage. Each one will take the R12 NineT’s fundamentals and express a specific facet of it.
We’re convinced that this platform opens up an infinite field of possibilities. And we look forward to building new projects with our community of enthusiasts. Every feedback, every exchange, every bike delivered contributes to refining our vision.
